Assistant Democratic Leader Todd Book

Todd Book is an attorney and small businessman who lives in the Portsmouth area. Before Book was named assistant minority leader in January of 2006, he served as the ranking Democrat on the House Civil and Commercial Law Committee. A native of Scioto County, Book graduated from Portsmouth West High School, and later studied political science at Western Michigan University. In 1993, he earned his law degree from the College of William & Mary's Marshall-Wythe School of Law.

Book and his father co-own Old Hickory Golf Co., Ltd. Book has also served at Shawnee State University as an adjunct faculty member.

Book is an elder in the Portsmouth Second Presbyterian Church. He is also a member of the Ohio and Scioto County bar associations, the Portsmouth Kiwanis, the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Scioto County Farm Bureau, the Scioto County Catholic Social Services Board and the Salvation Army Advisory Board.

Book lives in McDermott with his wife, Emily, and their three children: Cassidy Mae, Avery Todd and Meredith Claire.
